Alcohol, Tobacco & Drug Services

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, nondenominational, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

Al-Anon/Alateen helps families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of a relative or friend. Similarly, Alateen is our recovery program for young people. Alateen groups are sponsored by Al-Anon members. Toll free 877-339-8350

Narcotics Anonymous provides support for drug users. 888-452-HOPE or 800-543-4670

Safe And Drug Free Youth Section, Fairfax County Public Schools provides two kinds of prevention services for youth: a one-day tobacco intervention seminar and a three-day alcohol and other drug intervention seminar. The Safe and Drug-Free Youth Sections also oversees 22 school-community coalitions that provide drug and violence prevention programs in their local communities within Fairfax County. 571-423-4270

INOVA Kellar Center is a not-for-profit outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment center for children, adolescents and their families. Structured day and evening treatment programs as well as special education services are provided. 703-218-8500

U-Turn of the Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance is a community-based, grassroots membership organization of people in recovery, their families, friends and committed community supporters. 804-762-4445 Email: director@saara.org

Mental Health Referral Associates provide referrals to substance abuse services. 703-960-0116

Living Free Health Services provides out- patient substance abuse treatment program with group sessions for youth ages 12-18, with mandatory family therapy in which teens have at least one parent or guardian present. Fairfax County Police Gang Unit tracks and monitors information about gang activity. 703-246-4650

Community and Recreation Services Teen Centers provide safe and drug free places for teens to participate in various social, recreational and community activities. Nine centers located throughout the County. 703- 324-TEEN

Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court provides crisis counseling/intervention and telephone consultation. Walk-in appointments available.

PANDAA (Parents’ Association to Neutralize Drug and Alcohol Abuse) Listening Ear provides confidential support for parents experiencing behavior problems with a child. Parents Support Groups provide free self-help for parents experiencing behavior problems with a child. 703-750-9285
